Three Programs that celebrate the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Program 1: Dick Biondi and the History of Chicago Radio —A prevue and discussion of the award-winning documentary film, “The Voice That Rocked America - the Dick Biondi Story”.
Program 2: The Beat That Changed The World, A Musical Journey Through the History of Rock 'n' Roll. Trace the roots of rock music and its cultural revolution from the 1940s to the 1970s, featuring iconic artists like Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Chuck Berry, Elvis, The Beatles, Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley.
Program 3: Chicago Pop Radio Wars of the 1960s & 70s
A behind-the-scenes look at two competing super stations and how Chicago’s super jocks Dick Biondi, Clark Weber, and Ron Riley gave local bands their big music break. When Biondi returned to the midnight to 5:00 A.M. slot at WCFL, the Voice of Labor, in October 1967, the completion betweenWLS and WCFL was heating up. Learn about Chicago’s role in shaping music, broadcast, and pop culture as award-winning documentary filmmaker and narrative historian Pamela Enzweiler-Pulice explores the Golden Age of “personality radio”. Pulice’s program will include footage from her soon-to-be released award-winning documentary film, The Voice That Rocked America - the Dick Biondi Story.
